Search & Rescue Level III
This level will require the K-9 Team to search for the scent of a
stranger in
rural, urban, and suburban environments.
The K-9 Team will be
required to:
Area Search:
Search for a concealed stranger in an area approximately 400 X 400
meters
in light bush and woods.
Agility:
Negotiate more challenging natural obstacles in the field as well as
agility
course exercises of the Crawl, 4 Hurdles, Tunnel, A Frame, Broad
Jump,
High Jump, Cat Walk, 1 meter platform jump, raised log/plank, etc.
Article Search:
Locate 2 medium sized articles thrown/hidden 4 hours prior to the search
by
a stranger.Area to be light brush and woods 400 X 400 meters.
Obedience:
Off lead – Left turns, Right turns, Fast pace, Slow pace, under
distraction.
Sit, Down, Stand with hand signals 2 meters distance.
Walking Sit –10 meters
Walking Down –10 meters
Walking Stand – 10 meters
Sit Stay handler out of sight for 3 minute
Down Stay handler out of sight for 5 minute
Stand Stay handler out of sight for 1 minute.
Recall from 5 meters and Down Stay, Recall, Front Sit and Finish.
Tracking:
The track will be laid by a stranger.
Human/animal scent distractions will
be present. The terrain will consist of urban/suburban/rural, which
will include
asphalt, dirt roads, gravel roads, and mixed vegetation.
The K-9 Team will be required to:
Over 1500 meters long
At least 1 hour old
6 turns
4 articles
Over urban/suburban/rural terrain
1 cross track
1 road crossings
20 meters on varied low scent surfaces (Gravel, dirt, etc.)to:
A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the course.
