   Credentials - Dave Walker, Owner/Training Director


  •      Since 1984 to present have searched, designed and implemented the
        first Dave Walker Credentials 1Correctional Service Dog program of its kind in the history of the 
        Canadian  Prison System where dual
        purpose patrol and narcotics dogs were
        used. 
  •      1984 to present have trained, handled,
         administered, and certified (3) three
         Correctional Service Dogs.
  •      Recognized as an expert in the training and
         deployment of narcotics/patrol dogs in the
         Canadian Prison System.

  • For over 12 years have maintained training
       standards of three Correctional Service Dogs
       in narcotics detection, tracking and patrol work.

  • Trained and certified the first, and to date only,
        Correctional Service Dogs under  the United States
        Police Canine Association in Canada for narcotics
        detection,  patrol dog work, and tracking.
  • 1987 Correctional Service Dog "Belle" was the first
        Canadian corrections dog in history to be certified
        as a Narcotics Detector Dog under the United
        States Police Canine Association. (Only one to this
        date)


  • 1993 Correctional Service Dog "Rea" was the first Canadian corrections
       dog in history to be certified under the United States Police Canine
       Association as a patrol dog PD 1. (Only one to this date)
  • 1995 Correctional Service Dog "Rea" was the first Canadian corrections
        dog in history to be certified under the United States Police Canine
        Association as a  tracking dog PD 2. (Only one to this date)
  • Have conducted over 400 canine searches for narcotics in over 20
       different institutions of Ontario's Correctional Centres, Detection Centres,
       and Half-Way Houses in the community.
  • Over 2,000 documented canine narcotic finds.

  • Over 250 weapons found.

  • Over 300 institutional misconduct guilty convictions for possession of
       narcotics.
  • Over 50 Criminal Code guilty convictions for possession of narcotics.
  • Over 200 public demonstrations of the Correctional Service Dog.
  • 7 Escaped inmates apprehended by the Correctional Service Dog.
  • 1989 assisted Metro Toronto Police with Correctional Service Dog
       "Belle" in a 12 day manhunt for escaped rapist Fred Merrill (America's
       Most Wanted) who escaped from the Toronto(Don) Jail.

  • 1991 assisted Brantford City Police and OPP with Correctional Service
        Dog "Belle" in search and capture of two escaped inmates from Burtch
        Correctional Centre.

  • 1994 assisted Metro Toronto police with Correctional Service Dog "Rea" in
        the search and capture of escaped inmate from Mimico Correctional
        Centre.
  • 1984-2007 assisted the Hamilton Police Canine Unit as Police Dog Trainer
        in developing their patrol dog basic training 14 week course, standards
        and certification. Assisted on a weekly basis as Police Service Dog
        trainer in maintaining the training standards of  4 Police Service Dogs.
  • 1984-2007 As Police Dog Trainer for the Hamilton Police Service-
       Selected, Trained and Certified 14 patrol dog teams to the department
       standards.

  • 2006 As Police Dog Trainer for the Hamilton Police Service Trained and
       certified 2 Patrol Dogs in narcotics detection.
  • Internationally Certified Police Canine Trainer and Judge.

  • Custom training involved training dogs for the physically challenged, as
       well as dogs for television commercials and staff training films (Canada
       Post).

  • Certified Volunteer Search and Rescue Canine Team with the Hamilton
       Police Search and Rescue Unit.  Volunteer Coordinator/Trainer of 3
       member volunteer canine team.

  • Certified Volunteer Search and Rescue Canine Team with Ontario
       Provincial Police under Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association
       (OSARVA).   Pictured below is Dave Walker with SAR K9 Wile E. and
       Hetty Abma with SAR K9 Ryker who are both member of the Hamilton
       Police Volunteer Search and Rescue Canine team.  Dave and Hetty
       were two out of only four volunteer SAR Canine Teams across Ontario
       that passed the OPP certification|this year.  Only certified Volunteer
       SAR Canine teams may assist police agencies searches for lost or missing
       persons under the provincial standards.

  • As a trainer for over  29 years has trained over  5000
       dogs  in obedience and problem solving.  Specializing in behaviour
       modification.
  • 2006 Guest Lecturer- Dog Aggression-Toronto- Ontario Veterinarian
